My Background

Is unexpected at best

I never was aware of what a corporate career could be. Growing up, I was the first generation in my family to be university educated. There were no clear thoughts on career. For my parents, it was just enough that I was happy doing whatever I chose.

I ended up in a career that somehow chose me instead. Finance.

Multiple countries, unusual topics, I was the profile that would take any role, simply because I found it interesting to learn from whatever situation I was put into. 

I grew to also enjoy learning about leadership. 

​​

Later in my career as I moved exclusively into leadership roles, I enjoyed when I could support my teams in their own development. Seeing them grow, showcase their talent, and supporting them in their journey, eventually triggered the next phase of my own career. An executive educator, focused on young finance talent.

Why executive education?

Traditional training is mostly miss, rather than hit

As the head of a finance function, I struggled to find operationally experienced, professional educators for my team, let alone ones with a finance background.

Most educators either offered generic technical or softskill training, focused on 'a training day off work', rather than a program to challenge, upskill and bring participants to better understand themselves.

I believe that a proper day of executive education should be as mentally stimulating, thought provoking and sometimes as uncomfortable, as a day in the office.

Growing finance profiles

Over the years, when staff moved on from my team, more often than not, they would contact me from time to time for advice.

Be it career related, situational or technical advice, I was a person that many of them felt at ease talking to.

​​I enjoy seeing growth, where given their own unique situation, each person can grow their personality and impact in their role.

​

As an educator, I enjoy creating the environment that each particular profile learns best in, and brings their best self into. 

Paying it forward

I was lucky enough to have senior mentors that recognised my potential at an early age. Without their guidance and advice, I would not be the person that I am today.

​

Only later in life, did I realise that not everybody has the comfort, access or luck to such senior, generous mentors.

​

I hope to pass on whatever knowledge I have, to those able to use it in shaping their own future.

What to expect

Training should be intensive, thought provoking and raise self awareness

A wake up call

Being a finance professional at the core, the KPI that I use to measure the success of my programs is simple.
 
It is:​
The expression of my participants face, post-program versus pre-program.
​​
Where I see expressions of concern, shock, or reflection, I consider this a successful program execution.
​
Most likely these participants have discovered something about themselves,  a realization they must put changes in place in order to reach their goal of C-level.​
​
The average age of profiles in my programs range from late 20s to late 30s.

I hope to give them the wake up call that all high potentials need.
